It’s now 15 years since the September 11 attacks. Today we watched a film that was supposed to be a documentary about a firefighter, but instead became a film about the job the fire department did in the Twin Towers 9/11/2001 and the weeks after.
At a day that seemed to be just another day, some people from the New York City Fire Department were on a routine check of a gas leak when a plane flew into one of the towers at the World Trade Center. On this day Jules Naudet was supposed to only practice his filming for the documentary he made with his brother, but when the fire department went to World Trade Center he followed them to document the worst day these firemen were going to experience in their career.
With no retakes or film tricks, only raw actions, we get to see how the firefighters handled the situation from the inside of one of the towers, without really knowing what was going on. We see how the chiefs from the different units worked together to maneuvers the hundreds of firefighters at the scene. The movie shows us how the firemen found out what evil looks like.
